Narrative pitch

Although the sound track we chose for our music video is originally supposed to be a love song, we decided to change it up a bit and add a crazy element to it.

The narrative pitch for our selected music video “It’s Not Your Fault” is going to be a Male Artist trying to express his feelings towards his current girlfriend who is pretty much getting fed up with his mood swings. In the music video we are going to see him go through all these different emotions, demonstrated by his facial expressions, body language and behaviour. The phrase “it’s not your fault” dominates the song because it’s said in the chorus a lot, therefore emphasizing his acknowledgement for his bad/abusive behaviour towards his current girlfriend.

Our market research shows us that women mostly listen to electric music; therefore we should try and concentrate on making our music video appealing to them in order for our music video to sell. There is a possibility that women who listen to songs like “It’s not your fault” have been victims of an abusive relationship which makes it even better for us because they feel like they can relate and that they are not the only ones going through it. I think that we can also attract male audiences because they may also be able to relate to song because of the lyrics. Some men find themselves being abusive to their own partner because of their own personal issues. The song could help men realise that what they are doing is wrong and can seriously damage their relationship. The fact that the artist is expressing his own regrets and emotions in the song, it could really help some men re-evaluate themselves and perhaps want to change.
