Editing

My editing
In order to add effects I needed to select the effects tab then choose the effect or transition that I wish to add, then I need to drag the effect directly to where I want it to take place in. For a transition, I would drag it between two video clips to where i want the transition to take place in. Once this is done, I would then have to render the clip using "cmd+r" for it to then work.

Before even being able to start editing, first I had to download the track of youtube using www.convertyoutube2mp3.com, once this had been downloaded successfully the next step was to select file then import.

I imported the file directly from iTunes from the folders on the desktop.

Once this had been done, the track would appear on the screen like this. I then needed to drag the audio into the appropriate timeline which you can see has now been successfully done in light green after rendering. The fact that it's not red tells us that the audio has now been  successfully added to the timeline, so now when I play the product it would work effectively, it's up to me to make sure that my video is in synch with the song.

In order to create bin files and folders I needed to select file and then new bin. I could then rename files appropriately where i can now insert footage within specified folders, this is done to help me be more organised when editing.

Over coming editing problems

During the process of editing my music video, I realised that we didn't film enough of the vital scenes. We have so many retakes of the chorus and intro but yet we don't even have clips of some of the verses! Because of that I'm really struggling to edit my music video because I don't want to make it obvious to the audience that I added in a lot of extras because I didn't have enough footage. But I suppose in a way it's testing me as a media student to see if I'm able to overcome the situation with the knowledge I have gained throughout the two years of studying media. Since I didn't study Media Studies in GCSE, I struggled often with how to do certain things like adding split scenes and certain effects. However, I was able to overcome some of my issues by watching Youtube tutorials which i found extremely helpful, and the things Youtube couldn't help me with, I asked my Media Studies teacher.
